THE BUSKING POET AND THE POOR LITTLE RICH GIRL
London performance commemorates the 50th anniversary of bossa-nova
Bossa Nova will be 50 years old in 2008, and a fitting tribute is being prepared in London. The play Poor Little Rich Girl, which was written in the 60`s by songrwriter Carlos Lyra and poet Vinicius de Moraes, composer of the classic Girl from Ipanema, will be performed over six nights at the ETCetera Theatre, from November to December.
"First time around, the play was performed by three actors; Vinicius de Moraes, Carlos Lyra and Nara Leao, so we decided to do something similar, as a tribute to the original", explains Rogerio Correa, who's involved in the London production. The play is directed by Franko Figueiredo and is performed by Gui Tavares (guitar and voice), Cida de Assis (voice), Rogerio Correa (voz) and Kleyton (percussionist).
Poor little rich girl is a musical comedy about a rich girl that falls in love with a Beggar Poet, and is based on 12 bossa nova songs.
