has a new monthly Tuesday night, Gafieira: Brazilian Ballroom
Music and Dance. The term "gafieira" comes from
the beginning of the 20th century to describe the dance
halls of the working class neighborhoods of Rio de Janeiro.
A truly unique form of dance music evolved, with its dazzling
arrangements and instrumentation. Arrive early for a free
gafieira class.

De Palma on vocals) has slipped into musical consciousness

conductor Roberto Minczuk will be conducting the London
Philharmonic Orchestra performing a fantastic programme
featuring music by Beethoven and Rachmaninov. The concert
opens with Beethoven’s first piano concerto with
the pianist John Lill, who is known for his interpretations
of Beethoven and is arguably one of the best British pianists
today.
